The 1942 consecration
The temple's origins date back to the early 1940s, during a period of significant growth in Mumbai's suburban neighborhoods. The spiritual vision for the temple was conceived by Vaikunth Vasi Jagat Guru Shri Shri 1008 Shri Swami Bhagwatacharyaji Maharaj. After traveling to Andhra Pradesh and visiting the Tirumala Tirupati Devasthanams, the Jagat Guru was deeply moved by the divine presence of Lord Venkateshwara.
Recognizing that many local devotees faced financial or physical barriers to making the long pilgrimage to Tirupati, he resolved to build a local sanctuary in Mumbai. The land was donated by Jeevabai Narayanji. Under the spiritual guidance of the Jagat Guru, the foundation stone was ceremonially laid on the auspicious day of Magh Shukla Paksha Vasant Panchmi in Vikram Samvat 1999 — the year 1942 CE.

Theological lineage
The temple operates under the theological principles of the Srivaishnava Sampradaya, affiliated with the Vanamamalai Mutt in Nanguneri, Tamil Nadu — one of the supreme Sri Vaishnava Asthana Peetams preserving the Vishishtadvaita (qualified non-dualism) philosophy propagated by the philosopher-saint Srimad Bhagwad Ramanuja.
